Robert Lanning "Bob" Ferguson died peacefully on March 22, 2017 following a courageous battle with liver disease caused by agent orange. Bob was born Feb. 14, 1947 to James and Rosalia Ferguson.
He graduated from Traverse City High School in 1966 and enlisted in the U.S. Navy. He survived two tours to Vietnam in service to his country.
Most recently Bob was a lift operator at Mt. Holiday, a local non-profit institution, for several years. He will best be remembered by the local teenagers for his quick wit and "the word of the day."
Bob enjoyed reading and playing chess and was an avid sports enthusiast. His favorite teams included the Detroit Tigers, the Detroit Lions and the University of Michigan Wolverines.
He is survived by his brother, Carl; his sister, Pati; and his nephew, Neil.
A memorial will be held Aug. 6 at Peterson Park in Northport.
