Robert "Bob" C. Herzberg, 87, of Traverse City, passed away Thursday, March 16, 2017. Bob was born at the family home in Ackerson Lake (near Jackson) on Dec. 26, 1929 to Arthur and Marion (Martin) Herzberg.
Bob graduated from Napoleon High School, where he excelled as an outstanding basketball player.
While in high school Bob began working at Consumers Energy in the summer months and upon his graduation he joined the company as a full time mechanic. He was a valued employee and retired after 40-plus years with the company.
Bob was the kind of guy who could fix just about anything - from cars to tractors to farm equipment, you name it - he could fix it. He lived on Arbutus Lake for over 46 years and took care of everyone's boat on the lake.
Bob was active at the American Legion in Fife Lake, where he loved to play cribbage and euchre every Thursday night.
Bob is survived by his wife of over 50 years, Jacquelyn (Bedford) Herzberg; daughter, Sue (David) Gray; stepson, Mike (Pamela) Huskins; son-in-law, Tim Spalding; grandchildren, Jackie (Troy) Oliver, Jennifer Gray, Andrea (Tom) Perosky, Rob Spalding and Ben Spalding; great-grandchildren, Anthony, Arika, Caleb, Helena and Grace; and siblings, Elizabeth Carpenter and Bonnie Craft. Bob is also survived by his special friends, Jim, Phyllis and Carol.
Bob was preceded in death by his parents; daughter, R. Ann Herzberg; and siblings, Charles Herzberg and Barbara Blair.
There will be a celebration of Bob's life this summer.
