Ronald Dale Schumacher, of Port Orange, Florida, passed away Feb. 5, 2018 at the age of 85. He was born July 14, 1932 in Cleveland, Ohio.
After serving two years in the U.S. Army, he moved to his parents home in Traverse City in 1956. While he resided there, he worked in the family owned restaurants and also as a lab technician at Northport Hospital.
Ronald had his own band "Ronnie & The Polka Dots". He loved fishing, playing the accordion and Polka dancing.
In the 1960s, he moved to South Florida where he was a real estate investor. In 2007, he and his life partner, Joyce Mealick moved to Port Orange, Florida.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Henry and Laura; and his maternal and paternal grandparents.
He is survived by his life partner, Joyce Mealick; son, Jonathan F. (Diana) Schumacher, of Traverse City; daughter, Mary D. Schumacher, of Port Orange, Florida; and a sister, Dianne Weavers, of South Daytona, Florida.
Cremation has taken place and arrangements were handled by Shannon Maloney Funeral Home, Port Orange, Florida.
