Ruth Ann Largent, 79, of Traverse City, passed away Jan. 17, 2018 at her home. Ruth was born on Sept. 15, 1938 in Traverse City to Julius and Bernice (Donaldson) Weber.
On April 23, 1955 Ruth married the love of her life, Thomas Largent. He preceded her in death in 2014 after almost 60 years of marriage.
Ruth worked for the Burwoods Clock Factory for 31 years. In the 1980s Ruth owned and operated a catering company called Creative Catering.
In her free time she enjoyed spending time with her family. In later years, she loved to play bingo and go to the casino. She would watch Wheel of Fortune and Jeopardy every day and would always call her daughter for the final Jeopardy question. Ruth was a voracious reader and would read anything and everything. Ruth wrote a letter every day to her sister, Nancy. She loved keeping in touch despite the distance between their homes. As a result, her family would always get her stationary and stamps for a present.
She will be greatly missed.
Ruth is survived by her children, Carol Hiner, Karon Largent, Cathy (William) Brackel, Thomas Largent Jr., Patty Largent and Sandy Lemcool; eight grandchildren; nine great-grandchildren; and siblings, Mary "Liz" Wessling, Nancy Breene and Pete Weber.
Ruth was preceded in death by her parents, husband and nine siblings.
Cremation has taken place in accordance with Ruth's wishes.
The family is being cared for by Reynolds Jonkhoff Funeral Home and Cremation Services.
