Ruth Styx (née Baker), 88, died peacefully Jan. 6, 2018 in Brookfield, Illinois after a long struggle with Lewy Body Dementia. Ruth was born in Muskegon, on July 8, 1929 and graduated from Muskegon High School in 1947. She was a longtime resident of Traverse City. She retired from Interlochen Center for the Arts at 75 after many years of service as Registrar. She was an avid sailor, downhill skier and bridge player. Ruth is survived by her son, Jason Styx; his wife, Megan and her grandsons, Neil (16) and Peter (14) of Brookfield, Illinois; sister-in-law, Ruth Baker (née Mundt) of Mokena, Illinois; multiple nieces and nephews; and Jason's father, Donald Styx of Grand Haven. She was preceded in death by her father, Jacob Baker; mother, Florence Baker (née Fritsma); and brothers, Alvin, Gerald, and Raymond. Services will be private.
