Susan Kay Loda, 76, of Traverse City, died Monday, Jan. 22, 2018 at Grand Traverse Pavilions in Traverse City.
Susan was born on Tuesday, Jan. 28, 1941 in Grand Rapids. She was the daughter of Robert and Lois (Rohde) Crabb and stepfather, G. Don Ellis.
The family later moved to Traverse City, where she attended Traverse City schools and graduated from Central High School in 1958. She attended Northwestern Michigan College, graduating with an associate's degree.
Living in Detroit, Susan worked for WJBK-TV 2 and Storer Broadcasting. She moved to the mountains of North Carolina, where she co-owned Main Street Antiques and Workshop in Glenville for 25 years. She was best known for her award-winning basket weaving and was featured on an HGTV segment. She moved back to Traverse City in 2010 to be near family when she was diagnosed with Parkinson's and Lewy body disease.
Susan is survived by a daughter, Karin Winchester, of Holly; sons, Greg (Tami) Stuck, of Metamora, and Brian Stuck, of Lapeer; and granddaughters, Amy Fowlkes, Julia Stuck and Jennifer (Dan) Redford. Also surviving are her stepchildren, Chris (Mary Lee) Loda, of Vienna, Virginia, and Terri (Imre) Toth, of Monrovia, Maryland; grandchildren, Nathan (Flor), Justin (Emily), Kyle (Elizabeth), Megan, Brian and Jeffery; along with four great-grandchildren. Susan's sister, Janis (Jim) Anderson, of Traverse City, survives; as do her stepbrother, Fritz (Kathy) Crabb, of Grand Rapids; sister-in-law, Bev Crabb, of Oshtemo; niece, Deb (David) Prichard, of Traverse City; nephew, Mike (Allison) Anderson, of Spring Lake; and great-nephews, Teddy, Tyler, Jack, Avery and Brenden. Susan's former husband, Peter B. Loda, survives.
She was preceded in death by her parents; stepfather; stepbrother, Rob Crabb; son-in-law, Larry Winchester; and former husband, Terry Stuck.
The family wishes to thank the staff of Bay Ridge Assisted Living, Grand Traverse Pavilions Elm unit and Hospice of Michigan for their loving care of Susan.
Graveside services for Susan will be held in the spring of the year, with the date and time to be published at that time.
