Suzanne Rita Soper (Lardie) is safely in Heaven after a lengthy battle with multiple sclerosis. She did her best to beat the disease.
She was predeceased by her parents, Rita and Delano Lardie, of Traverse City; and her three brothers, Lynn, Fritz and Jerry.
She is survived by her husband of 49 years, Josef; her son, David (Karen); and two wonderful granddaughters, Amya and Akyra.
Sue graduated from Traverse City Central High School in 1967, married her high school sweetheart and embarked on a life journey throughout the United States, returning to Michigan in 1980. She then graduated from Grand Valley State University in 1985 with a degree in computer programming and went work for Meijer, Inc. as a programmer. She was eventually forced to retire due to the MS. She was involved with the MS Society at the state and national level for a time.
Sue was always bright, cheerful and made friends very easily. After the MS made traveling almost impossible, she made friends with many people who also had MS and kept in regular contact on Facebook. She will be sorely missed by the many people whose lives she touched.
There will be a private ceremony with just the immediate family.
In lieu of flowers, friends are urged to make contributions to the National Multiple Sclerosis Society; www.nationalmssociety.org.
