Tom "Jumbo" McNutt, 56 years old, passed away peacefully on June 2, 2017 at Tendercare of Leelanau after a long and courageous battle with spinal cerebellar-tic. He was born March 13, 1961 in Myrtle Beach, South Carolina, to Tom and Sally McNutt.
Tom graduated high school in Hampton, Virginia, and Bay Area Vocational-Technical School of Fort Walton Beach, Florida, as an electrician.
For over 25 years Tom worked in Atlanta and the Destin, Florida, area completing many high rise condominium projects.
In his free time he loved his boat and going deep sea fishing and hunting at a cabin with his friends. He also liked riding dirt bikes, his quad runner and golfing. One of his greatest loves was his dog, Dutchess. Tom's sense of humor and ability to make everyone smile was one of his greatest attributes.
He is survived by his mother, Sally McNutt, of Traverse City; sister, Michelle McIntosh, of Lake Ann; nieces, Tonya (Craig) Woodworth, of Traverse City, and Corrie (Pat) Reyna, of Lake Ann; great-nieces, Kylie, Michaela and Mariyah; great-nephew, Corbin Thomas; and aunt, uncle, cousins and many very close friends that were like family.
He was preceded in death by his father, Thomas F. McNutt; and grandparents.
Cremation has taken place. A celebration of life will be held at a later date.
In lieu of flowers, contributions may be sent to Hospice of Michigan in Tom's name.
