Tom, a life long resident of Grand Traverse County, passed away on June 8, 2018 at age 92.
Tom was born on the family farm on Feb. 6, 1926 to Charles and Gertrude (Foster) Mikula. He married the love of his life, Dorothy Aeschliman, on March 24, 1945.
Tom was a self employed furnace repairman for several years along with owning and operating a fruit farm with Dorothy. In his early years Tom worked for Tri-Gas, Parsons Corporation and Sampson Heating.
Tom had many interests and enjoyed hunting, fishing, mushrooming, traveling in their motor home, polka dancing, growing flowers (especially roses), talking to people and attending family gatherings. Family and friends were very important to Tom. Tom was always there when family and friends needed help. He could fix anything.
Tom was preceded in death by his parents; brother, Gene Mikula; and sisters, Zella West, Jessie Halstead and Georgia Buller.
He is survived by his wife of 73 years, Dorothy; sons, Jim (Marilyn), Frank (Kathy), Dick (Gretchen) and Jerry (Nancy); daughter, Marilyn Mikula; as well as nine grandchildren; and 13 great-grandchildren.
A visitation will take place Friday, June 15, 2018, from 5 to 8 p.m., at the Reynolds-Jonkhoff Funeral Home. A funeral service will take place Saturday, June 16, 2018, at 2 p.m., with visitation from 1:30 to 2 p.m., also at the funeral home. Tom's final resting place will be Grand Traverse Memorial Gardens.
