Thomas "Tom" Robert Peel, 65, of Harrison, passed away peacefully on Saturday, Jan. 20, 2018 at MidMichigan Health-Gladwin. Thomas was born June 27, 1952 in Muskegon the son of Robert Henry and Lillian Mae (Sumner) Peel.
Tom lived much of his life in Traverse City and later resided in Harrison.
From a young age, Tom had a talent and passion for woodworking. A craftsman by trade for most of his life, he built beautiful pieces for family and for clients' homes. Tom also had a great love of nature, whether feeding birds in the backyard or photographing moose and mountains in Alaska. He was most content fishing from a canoe on a quiet lake and frying that fish for supper over a campfire.
Surviving Mr. Peel are his daughter, Sarah Elizabeth Peel, of Traverse City; one sister, Marjorie Wales and husband, Terin, of Harrison; two brothers, Steven Peel, of Elk Rapids, and Gregg Peel and wife, Mary, of Traverse City; two brothers-in-law, Larry Ouwerkerk, of Wooster, Ohio, and Richard Stone, of Wetmore; plus many nieces, nephews and extended family members.
Mr. Peel was preceded in death by his parents; two sisters, Linda Stone and Sharon Ouwerkerk; and one sister-in-law, Judy Peel.
Private family services honoring Mr. Peel will be held at a later date.
