Wilma Marie Lautner, 95, of Williamsburg, passed away peacefully at Munson Medical Center Thursday, Feb. 8, 2018. She was born April 8, 1922 in Manton to the late Clinton and Goldie (Duer) Smith.
Upon graduation from high school Wilma honorably served in the United States Army Air Corps and was a veteran of World War II.
She married Donald A. Lautner on Jan. 20, 1945 in Traverse City. The couple raised six children together and celebrated 68 years of marriage.
She lived on the family farm in Williamsburg, raising dairy and beef cattle and harvesting fruit orchards of cherry, apple and plums. Upon retirement from farming she worked with Donald harvesting wood products; they milled from their own sawmill.
Wilma is survived by her daughters, Sandra Adams, Linda Lautner and Rhonda (Brian) Bissell; sons, Edward (Helen) Lautner, Donald (Sonja) Lautner and David Lautner; brother, Richard Smith; and several grandchildren and great-grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Donald Lautner; parents, Clinton and Goldie (Duer) Smith; brothers, Aubrey Smith, Ted Smith, Oscar Smith, Forest Smith and Cleo Smith; and sister, Gyneth Smith.
A visitation will be held today, Feb. 11, 2018 from 4 p.m. to 6 p.m. at the Reynolds-Jonkhoff Funeral Home. A funeral service with military honors will be held on Monday, Dec. 12, 2018 at 11 a.m., with visitation beginning at 10 a.m., also at the funeral home. The Reverend Carolyn Heider will officiate.
