Alexander's Story

Text size

Alexander "Alex" Malcolm Hawke, 24, of Traverse City, found a way out of the black river of depression that had consumed him by ending his life on Friday, April 28, 2017. Alex was born on January 1, 1993 in Kalamazoo, to his parents Jeremy and Kathryn (Wright) Hawke.
He leaves behind many family and friends that are shocked and confused by this. Everyone that knew him saw a friendly outgoing confident young man. He enjoyed the outdoors and riding on his motor cycle. He graduated from Traverse City West High School in the Class of 2011. While at West he ran on the Varsity Cross Country Team and was on the Nordic Ski Team. Following graduation he went up to Northern Michigan University and earned his accounting degree. During college he worked at The Northern Angler in Traverse City. Currently Alex was a staff accountant for Kindlinger and Company in Traverse City.
He leaves behind his father and mother, Jeremy and Kathryn Hawke; his two loving sisters, Clancey and Abigail; grandparents, John and Charlotte Hawke and Robert and Connie Wright; uncles, aunts and cousins, Jesse and Christine (Reed, Harris, Noah) Hawke, Noel and Allison (Anabelle, Carter) Hawke, Robert and Tammara (Evelynn, Audrey, Robert) Wright and Todd and Jennifer (Andrew) Wright; his family of friends from Northern Michigan University, the guys "at the shop," and many other family and friends.
A visitation will be held for Alex on Friday May 5, 2017 from 4 to 7 p.m. at the Reynolds-Jonkhoff Funeral Home.
In lieu of flowers please make a memorial contribution to the Child and Family Services/Third Level Northwestern MI or to the National Suicide Hotline.
