Barbara Jane Duperon, 57, of Maple City, passed away March 20, 2017 at Munson Medical Center. Barb was born on Feb. 4, 1960 in Detroit to the late Darwin M. Whitacre and Marilynn Jane Walker.
Barb graduated from Plymouth Canton High School in 1978. She earned an associate's degree from Northwestern Michigan College and furthered her education in Virginia.
She was the Kids "R" Us district manager and in late 1980s was transferred to Virginia and Maryland. In the early 1990s Barb returned to Michigan, where she worked for Plante Moran. Currently Barb worked at Gabe's County Market in Maple City.
Barb loved to spend time at the beach and on the boat. She loved the sun. Her animals were very special to her, especially her dogs. She was a wonderful cook and liked to can tomatoes. Barb loved to watch her sons play sports.
On Dec. 9, 1995 Barb married Anthony James "Tony" Duperon in Lake Leelanau in the middle of a huge snow storm. Barb cherished her family and will be greatly missed.
Barb is survived by her husband, Tony; her sons, Jacob and Tony; her sisters, Susan (Jim) Mesrobian and Gaye (Gary) Schlachter; sisters-in-law, Judy Stachnik and Janice Wonegesik; brother-in-law, Mike (Christie) Duperon; her in-laws, Don and Mary Ann Duperon; and many nieces and nephews.
Barb was preceded in death by her infant daughter, Kaitlyn Belle; her parents; and brothers-in-law, Robert Stachnik and Robert Wonegesik.
Visitation for family and friends will be held Wednesday, March 22, 2017, from noon to 3 p.m., at the Reynolds Jonkhoff Funeral Home.
