Bonnie L. Smith, age 69, of Suttons Bay, died Saturday, April 15, 2017 at her home from a long battle with COPD. She was born Jan. 19, 1948 in Flint.
Bonnie was known as the family pie maker. She would surprise you with a fresh baked pie, your favorite made with love - her secret ingredient. She gave many hours to the Suttons Bay Conservation League and was a much loved caregiver and friend to the many community members who were like family to her. Bonnie lived a life with uncompromising integrity, large hearted generosity and deep faith.
She was always eager for summer to return, loved her flowers and looked forward to watching the birds come to her many feeders. Her joy was to sip her morning coffee as the sun rose over the bay then an evening campfire on the beach. Friends and family were always welcome to join her where love and laughter flowed along with lively opinions shared on current events. Her smile and warm welcome always brightened your day.
After 33 years of marriage, she and her husband, Harley, would still be holding hands as they made their way together through life's challenges and joys. She will be deeply missed by all who loved her, particularly her best friend and beloved sister, Marcia. We know she has her "wings" and will forever be watching over us with her heart-warming smile and that special love.
Bonnie was preceded in death by her father, Harold Pudvay; brother, Ted Pudvay; and daughter, Patricia.
Bonnie is survived by husband, Harley Smith; two sons, Joseph and Kirk Curtis; mother, Nina Pudvay; sisters, Marsha Gillow and Coral Van Buren; two stepsons, Joel and Harley Smith Jr.; two stepdaughters, Susan (partner, Sheila Dowker) and Amy Taliercio; 13 beloved grandchildren; and a great-grandchild.
Memorial gifts in memory of Bonnie may be given to the Shriners or the charity of your choice.
