Cecil Lee Hawkins, 78, of Benzonia, died March 25, 2017 at his home. Born in Benzonia on Sept. 15, 1938, he was the son of Cecil K. and Eva (Fox) Hawkins.
On Sept. 15, 1962 Cecil married his love, Mary Shutt, and they recently celebrated their 54th wedding anniversary.
Cecil owned and operated Hawkins Mills, Inc. He also had a mail truck contract.
He had always kept busy with various interests; he especially liked to stop at yard sales and take leisurely drives near and far.
Cecil was a devoted family man, for which he worked hard to provide, teach important life lessons and support. He was a friend to all and an inspiration to many.
He is survived by his wife, Mary; children, Ann (Robert) Choate, of Renton, Washington, Sally (John) Messnek, of Marcellus, Susan (Dennis) Burton, of Traverse City, and Lee Hawkins, of Benzonia; seven grandchildren; four great-great-grandchildren; sister, Sonia Fishborn, of South Bend, Indiana; and a brother, Bruce Hawkins, of Novi.
Memorial services will be held at 1 p.m. Saturday, April 15, at the Family of Faith Nazarene Church in Frankfort. The Rev. William Borton will officiate.
