Charles "Chuck" Roy Scriver passed away at the age of 46 on March 9, 2017 at Munson Medical Center from complications of a stroke with his sister, Wanda, by his side.
Chuck was born on Nov. 17, 1970 in Traverse City to the late Alfred Sr. and Victoria (Green) Scriver. He was the youngest of his siblings, Wanda, Irene and Alfred Jr.
He attended Traverse City Central High School and started working as a delivery boy at the age of 16 at the Traverse City Record-Eagle. He subsequently had a paper delivery route in the Williamsburg and Elk Rapids areas for 30 years. He had many favorite customers over the years and loved his job. Chuck will be remembered as a loyal and hard worker.
Chuck and his wife, Angela (Lamie) Scriver, were together for over 15 years. They had four children, Mackenzie, Heather, Stephanie and Charles Jr. Unfortunately, their marriage ended in 2007.
Chuck was a passionate sports fan of the Detroit Lions, Red Wings and Michigan State University. He loved football, golfing and snowmobiling with his cousin, Casey. He also enjoyed playing the slots at the local casino and card games, especially poker with his family and friends.
For over 25 years Chuck belonged to many bowling leagues and recently scored a perfect game. He shared the love of bowling with his brother, Al. More than a few special friendships were developed over the years, particularly with Eric and Chip.
Chuck loved being outdoors for any reason, be it mowing the lawn, planting his many flowers or enjoying time playing with his beloved dogs, especially Peanut. He had a great sense of humor and dearly loved his family and friends.
He will be greatly missed and is survived by his children and granddaughter, Madison. He is also survived by his sisters, Wanda Scriver and her son, Kyle, and Irene (Bud) Newhouse and their children, Adam, Ashley, Cody and Jordan; and brother, Alfred Scriver Jr. and his children, Josh, Kirsten, Allie, Blake, Devon and Chastity. Also surviving are uncles, Bob (Patricia) Green, of Spring Lake, Art Gagnon, of Williamsburg, Donald (Joan) Scriver, of Lake Orion, and Wayne Hulbert, of Georgia; and aunts, Paula (Larry) Gauthier, of Grawn, and Betty (Hank) Shawnoskey, of Benzie County.
He was preceded in death by his parents; an infant brother, Tommy; as well as aunts, Minnie, Beverly, Peggy and Barbara; and uncles, Dave, Jerry and Charles.
Cremation by Cremation Services Only has taken place. A private graveside service will be held at Oakwood Cemetery in Traverse City later this spring.
Rest easy, Chuck.
