Our beloved father and grandfather, David Michael Davenport, 65, of Kalkaska, went home to the Lord Thursday, June 22, 2017. He was born on Jan. 14, 1952 in Port Huron to the late Frank and Edith "Molly" Davenport.
He was a devoted father to MaryAnne (Michael) Maddox, Michael Davenport and William (Leah) Davenport; as well as loving grandfather to Samuel and Sara Maddox, Brycen, Emily, Sophia and Hannah Davenport. He is also survived by dear friend, Teresa Galligan.
David was preceded in death by his wife, Darlene H. (Streeter) Davenport; his parents; and brother, Kenneth Davenport.
David had an education in welding and worked in several crafts over the years. He was employed in the maintenance department of Turtle Creek Casino and Resort for nearly the last 20 years.
David enjoyed motorcycling, camping and art. His rousing caricatures were uproarious and good fun. With a cheeky sense of humor and an infectious laugh, he will be missed by his friends and family.
David was a lifelong Christian and his family is grateful to have had such a wonderful man they could call theirs.
Funeral services will be held on Tuesday, June 27, at 4 p.m., with visitation beginning at 2 p.m. until the time of service, at Wolfe-O'Neill Funeral Home, 106 S. Cherry Street. Pastor Scott Rhoades will officiate.
Memorials may be given in David's memory to the Kalkaska Commission on Aging, 303 S. Coral St., Kalkaska, MI 49646.
