David Kevin Dodge, 55, of Kalkaska, passed away suddenly on June 19, 2017 at Kalkaska Memorial Health Center. He was born in Howell on May 2, 1962 to Katie (Kores) and Thomas Dodge Sr.
Dave was just amazing; he would always be there for others to lend a hand, and with his smile and personality he would always brighten your day. He really enjoyed the outdoors, whether it was fishing, hunting or taking the grandkids out for lawn mower rides.
Dave worked and was well known in the oil field industry, but family was his life. He always made it to his boys' and then the grandkids' sports events, no matter what, even if that meant leaving work early; they didn't even have to look up because he was always there. Although he hesitated at first, he ended up coaching T-ball and absolutely loved being out there.
Dave is survived by his wife of nearly 28 years, Melody (Russell); sons, Greg (Sarah) and Garrett (Krystal); special daughter, Michele Dodge; three grandchildren, Eli, Bailey and Wesley; parents, Bill and Katie Hicks; and siblings, Debbie (Roger) Barber, Barb (Brian) Barber, Tom Dodge Jr., Terry (Linda) Dodge, Gerald Dodge, Doug (Stacy) Hicks, Mike (Cathy) Hicks and Sandy Barber. He will always be remembered as a wonderful brother-in-law and family member to Melody's family.
He was preceded in death by his brother, Ernie Hicks; and mother-in-law, Myrna Russell.
A memorial service will be held at 2 p.m. on Friday, June 23, 2017 in the Chapel of Kalkaska Funeral Home, with Andy Bratton officiating. Friends may gather with the family beginning at 1 p.m.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to Dave's family.
Arrangements have been entrusted to Kalkaska Funeral Home and Cremation Services.
