Derrell 'Snooks''s Story
Derrell "Snooks" Wane Eldridge, of Kalkaska, passed away on Sunday, May 7, 2017 at the Eden Center in Kalkaska. Derrell was born on Sept. 12, 1935 in South Bend, Texas, the son of the late Joseph and Eula Mae (Duncan) Eldridge. Until they meet again in heaven, Derrell leaves his loving wife and soulmate of 48 years, Wanda Eldridge.
Derrell had a lifetime career of over 60 years in the oil and gas industry working in Texas, North Dakota and Michigan. He was the owner of Dar-Way Inc. and D & W Flow Testing, Inc. In 2013, he was honored with the Lifetime Achievement Award for his service in the oil and gas industry in Michigan. Derrell was also the co-owner and co-founder of Grandview Golf Course and Restaurant in Kalkaska. He loved to play golf and made a hole-in-one on #7 at Grandview.
Derrell was a life member of 50 years at the Elks Lodge and Fraternal Order of Eagles in Minot, North Dakota for 45 years.
Derrell is survived by many family and friends; his wife, Wanda; children, Jerrell (Heather) Eldridge, of Tucson, Arizona, Dara Odom, of Las Cruces, New Mexico, Cheryl Martinez, of Lumberton, Texas, Scott (Lilly) Eldridge, of Tucson, Arizona and Dwane (Tracy) Eldridge, of Kalkaska; stepdaughters, Gwen (Jim) Smith, of Hawley, Texas and Kayla Copeland, of Sioux Falls, South Dakota; 16 grandchildren; 21 great-grandchildren; one great-great-grandchild; sister-in-law, Glenda (Keith) Lindon, of Hallett, Oklahoma; and special nephew, Benny Eldridge, of Graham, Texas.

Derrell was preceded in death by his siblings, W. B. Eldridge, Rita Carnes, Glen Eldridge, Dortha Nell Melton, Josephine Kast, and Wanda Minton all of Texas.
Visitation will be on Thursday, May 11 from 5 to 8 p.m. at Wolfe-O'Neill Funeral Home. Funeral services will be on Friday at 1 p.m. at the funeral home.
