Diana "Dusty" Grace Doriot passed away early Tuesday morning at the age of 67 in her home surrounded by her husband and two children.
Born in 1950 in Ludington, Dusty received a Bachelor of Science in Nursing Education from Northwestern Michigan College in 1971.
She worked as a surgical tech nurse in the operating room at Traverse City Osteopathic Hospital for 24 years. When the hospital closed she went on to work as an obstetric nurse at Munson Medical Center, from where she later retired after 17 years. Dusty was born with the "nurse" in her ... caring and compassion were two of her biggest qualities.
Everyone is blessed in different ways with different strengths. Dusty was a true superhero, though - amazing wife, mother, daughter, sister, grandmother, aunt and friend. The ways in which she touched so many lives will never be forgotten and always missed.
Dusty was always active and outgoing. She loved being outside, gardening, boating and spending time with her family and friends. She had the most wonderful, kind smile that lit up a room and made everyone feel special and loved.
Dusty was preceded in death by her parents, Elmer and Vera (McClellan) Dust.
She is survived by her husband, Michael; son, Scott (Robyn); daughter, Jaime; and three grandchildren, Kelton, Grady and Braylon. She is also survived by her two brothers, Dennis (Hazel) Dust and Gregg (Laura) Dust; and their two daughters, Sarah and Lisa.
Visitation will be held from 4 to 8 p.m., with a rosary recitation at 7 p.m., on Friday, April 7, 2017 at the Reynolds-Jonkhoff Funeral Home. A Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 1 p.m., with visitation beginning at noon, on Saturday, April 8, 2017 at St. Francis Catholic Church.
