Donald Bartlett Fredrickson died unexpectedly March 9, 2017 in Signal Hill, California. He was born in Traverse City on March 10, 1952. He was the son of Daphne O. Fredrickson and the late James R. Fredrickson, of Traverse City.
He is survived by his sister and brother-in-law, Pamela and Scott Sullivan, of Alamo, California; his brother and sister-in-law, James and Cynthia Fredrickson, of Suttons Bay; and his brother, David Fredrickson, of Traverse City. In addition, he is survived by his niece and nephews, Ashley Fredrickson, Christopher Fredrickson, Patrick Sullivan and Brian Sullivan; and his aunt, Joyce Harper.
Don graduated from Traverse City High School in 1970. He graduated from Dartmouth College in 1974. Don received two master's degrees from the University of Southern California with emphasis in piano accompaniment.
Don was currently on the staff of Santa Monica College Department of Music, a position he had held for over 25 years. He had previously held a similar position at El Camino College. Don was also an accomplished organist at several churches in Los Angeles. He was a violinist in the Santa Monica College Symphony Orchestra.
In his free time Don loved to travel and enjoyed many trips to the United Kingdom, as he had a particular interest in British royal history.
Along with his family, Don will be dearly missed by his many friends, colleagues, students and his beloved dogs.
Private services will be held.
