Edmond Darga, 93, of Cedar, peacefully passed away on July 26, 2017. Edmond was born on Oct. 24, 1923 in Centerville Township to the late Frank A. and Catherine (Ozga, aka Osga) Darga.
On April 22, 1946 he married his loving wife and best friend, Rita M. (Rice) Darga. They shared 56 years together prior to her passing. They had five children.
Edmond was a self-employed master plumber. In addition to owning Darga Plumbing & Heating, he was also a very talented inventor and highly skilled jack-of-all-trades. Tinkering was a passion of his.
Earlier in life, Edmond was an avid hunter and fisherman. Later, he found much joy in just feeding and watching the many types of wildlife which found their way into his yard. He always made sure they had plenty to eat and drink.
Edmond is survived by his children, Benedict Darga, of Gaylord, Daniel (Mary) Darga, of Farwell, David Darga, of Cedar, and Nancy Darga Winfrey, of Cedar; 14 grandchildren; 24 great-grandchildren; two great-great-grandchildren; siblings, Donald (Pat) Darga, of Cedar, and Alice (Ron) Karkutt, of Traverse City; and many nieces and nephews.
Edmond was preceded in death by his wife, Rita; infant son, Roger Dale; granddaughter, Amanda; great-granddaughter, Danielle; parents; brothers, Felix, Clarence, Raymond and Leonard Darga; and nieces and nephews.
Cremation has taken place, and a private family gathering to celebrate Edmond's life is planned for Sunday, Aug. 20, 2017.
Memorial contributions in memory of Edmond may be directed to the food pantry at Immaculate Conception Church, Traverse City; Holy Rosary Church, Isadore/Cedar; or Father Fred's, Traverse City.
