George Arthur McQueer Jr., age 61, passed away at his home in Traverse City on Friday, May 19, 2017. He was born on May 13, 1956 in Traverse City to George and Esther (Batzer) McQueer.
George appreciated the simple things in life, the outdoors, especially mushroom hunting, spending time in the woods, cooking and most importantly, his family. He loved animals, especially birds, and thoroughly enjoyed doing crossword puzzles.
He served in the U.S. Army for many years, including fighting for our country during Desert Storm from 1990 to 1991.
George was deeply loved and will be missed by so many.
George is survived by his children, Jason (Tiffany) McQueer, of Kingsley, Shanna (Skylar) Olmstead, of Buckley, and Ben (Mandy) McQueer, of Traverse City; his mother, Esther (Larry) Ramsey, of Traverse City; his grandchildren, Alyssa, Hunter, Mason, Aria, Destiney, Jenna, Tyler, Cheila, Kennedy, Drake and London; sisters, Joni (Bruce) Smithi, Joanne (Doug) Fouch, Jan Wagner, Char (Ken) Soper and Kimmy McQueer; brother, David McQueer; several stepbrothers and sisters; and many nieces, nephews and cousins.
He was preceded in death by his father; brother, Kevin McQueer; and stepmother, Rosie McQueer.
A celebration of life service is planned for Saturday, June 24, 2017, from 2 to 6 p.m., at 9328 Sands Road, Kingsley, MI 49649.
Arrangements have been entrusted to Covell Funeral Home.
