Georgia "Polly" Doreen Barck, 92, of Traverse City, passed quietly with her son by her side February 17, 2017, at Grand Traverse Pavilions. Polly was born April 7, 1925, in Bendon, the third of 12 children, to the late James and Elizabeth (Fewins) Volpe.
Known as "Polly," "Grandma B," "Aunt Polly," "Bismark," or Mrs. "B," she was happiest opening her home and her heart to family, friends, and sometimes as a second mother to many whose lives she touched. We are certain she has already begun seeking those who have already passed to join with her over a cup of coffee or another quick game of cards.
Sadly, she leaves behind her son, Richard "Rick" (Mary Jo); devoted lights of her life; granddaughters, Amanda (Jamie) Brandt, of Toronto, Canada and Jodi (Steven) Pold, of Calgary, Alberta, Canada; her treasured great-granddaughters, Lilah and Gweneviere "Winnie" Brandt.
Remembering her are brothers and sisters, Luis "Bud" Volpe, Vincinza "Synne" Hagist, Mariapalma "Pam" Lewis, Linda "Mae" Frestick, Jean Bowers and Marietta "Sherry" Huedepohl.
Rejoicing with her in Heaven are siblings Sarah "Sis" Nostrand (March 17, 2017), Margret "Marg" Smith, Vincent "Wink" Volpe, Dale "Jim" Volpe and Dean "John" Volpe.
A celebration of life has been scheduled for April 7, 2017, (her 93rd birthday) from 3 p.m. to 6 p.m. at Barz-Bennett Funeral Home in Beulah. A brief prayer services will begin at 4:30 p.m. conducted by family friend, Mr. Tim Salininski of Mesick. Following the service, light refreshments will be provided at the Best Western Motor Inn (directly across from the funeral home).
The Bennett-Barz Funeral Home, in Beulah, is in charge of arrangements.
