Irene Bridgman, 97, of Traverse City and also a winter resident of Bradenton, Florida, passed peacefully on June 19, 2017 in Bradenton, Florida.
Born Oct. 19, 1919 in Detroit, she was a daughter of Samuel and Julia Mika. On March 12, 1955 in Detroit, she married Glenn A. Bridgman Sr.
Irene worked in accounting at Ford Motor Company for 11 years, where she met her husband Glenn. She was a member the Eastern Star, High Twelve Club and president of her bowling league. She was a member of the Presbyterian Church in Traverse City and Bradenton, Florida.
Irene Bridgman is survived by her children, Nancy M. (Darrell) Winchell and Glenn A. Bridgman Jr.; and grandchildren, Nick (Jenna) Winchell, Jennifer (Miles Robertson) Winchell, Eric Winchell, Brent (Erinn) Bridgman, Tyler Bridgman and Dylan Shay.
Irene was so loved by everyone that knew her, but her true love was spending time with her grandchildren at the lake house; this was her paradise.
Memorial services will be held on Wednesday, July 5, 2017, at 11 a.m., at The Presbyterian Church, Traverse City, with the Rev. Jose Lopez officiating. Burial will be in the Church Prayer Garden.
Anyone wishing to honor Irene's memory with a contribution may direct it to the Shrine Foundation for Crippled Children, Inc., 420 Saladin Drive S.E., Grand Rapids, MI 49546; or to the Grand Traverse Regional Land Conservancy, which upon request of her family will be directed to benefit the Timbers Recreation Area on Long Lake. Irene lived on Long Lake for 59 years; it was her paradise.
