Jacqueline "Jackie" Lucia Tooley, 79, passed away Tuesday, March 28, 2017 at the home of her daughter, Betty, with her family by her side. She was born on Aug. 28, 1937 at Munson hospital in Traverse City to Leon and Edith (Belanger) Couturier.
In 1954 Jackie married her first husband, Peter Winowiecki, who preceded her in death. Jackie and Peter had three children, Peter (deceased), Leon and Betty. In 1988 Jackie married her second husband, William Tooley, who also preceded her in death.
Jackie worked at several long-term care facilities and retired from Goodwill Industries.
She enjoyed cooking, gardening, playing cards and spending time with her family at Log Lake.
Jackie was preceded in death by her parents, Leon and Edith; son, Peter; and her siblings, Robert Couturier, Gerry, Judy Howard, Orpha Taylor and Thelma Schaub.
She is survived by her children, Leon Winowiecki and Betty (Tim) Gloshen; her grandchildren, Nicholas Swartout (Jessica Maison) and Ciara (Zach) Wendels; great-grandchildren, Joshua Swartout; and her siblings, Mary Bugai, Audrey Bugai, Carol (Bill) Kahle, Carl (Anna) Couturier, Edith (Ben) Zimmerman, Pat Otto and Mike (Vaan) Couturier; and numerous nieces and nephews.
Jackie will be remembered as a loving and caring mother, grandmother, sister and dear friend. She will be greatly missed.
Visitation will be Monday, April 3, 2017, from 4 to 7 p.m., at Covell Funeral Home, 232 E. State Street, Traverse City. A Mass of Christian Burial will take place at 11 a.m., with visitation from 10 a.m., Tuesday, April 4, 2017, at St. Francis of Assisi Catholic Church, 1025 S. Union Street, Traverse City. Burial at Grand Traverse Memorial Gardens will immediately follow Mass.
Arrangements have been entrusted to Covell Funeral Home of Traverse City.
