James Richard Majszak, 61, of Traverse City, passed away Monday, April 24, 2017 at Munson Medical Center.
Jim was born Jan. 6, 1956 in Traverse City, the son of Robert A. Majszak Sr. and Elsie (Pahl) Majszak. In 2002 at the Trinity Lutheran Church of Traverse City, he married Kay A. (Curry) Majszak, who survives.
He owned and operated Moments in Time taxidermy. Jim loved hunting, fishing, gardening, canning, cooking and baking. He was an expert cook and baker. His family remembers his chicken dumplings, the kolache and ham he lovingly made for holiday meals. Jim would make homemade maple syrup, and during the collection from the trees have his young ones taste the sap out of the maple trees.
Jim was a man with deep love for his family and grandchildren.
Jim is survived by his wife, Kay; his father and stepmother, Robert (Carol) Majszak Sr.; his children, Nathaniel (Tamara) Majszak, Rachel Majszak and Melissa (Dawie) Conradie; stepchildren, Tricia Goode, Tonja Griffis and T.J. Lorenz; his siblings, Robert Jr. (Darlene), Michael (Christina), Thomas (Patricia), David (Kimberly), Steven (Patricia) and Christina (Anne Drake) Majszak; 13 grandchildren; and one great-grandchild.
He was preceded in death by his mother, Elsie.
Visitation will be held from 4 to 7 p.m. on Friday, April 28, at the Martinson Funeral Home of Suttons Bay.
