James "Jim" Michael Perry, 78, of Thompsonville, formerly of Highland, died Wednesday, March 22, 2017 at home with his children by his side. He was born Jan. 12, 1939 in Helena, Arkansas, the son of Ruppel and Eileen (Witworth) Perry.
He went to work as a commercial heating, cooling and refrigeration contractor, eventually starting his own company, Aireco Mechanical Inc., servicing the Metro Detroit area.
Following his retirement Jim moved to Benzie County and settled by the river just outside of Thompsonville, where he lived out the rest of his years. He cherished time spent hunting with his children with fur and visiting with his family and friends.
Jim is survived by his daughters, Debbie (Darrell) Girtman, Marie Lynn (Tim Barham) Perry and Janine (Bob) Armstrong; his grandchildren, Derek and Dayna Girtman, Keith and Kevin Ritchie, James Smith and Bryan Armstrong; eight great-grandchildren; his siblings, Beverly (Lemke) Martorana and Donald Perry; and his children with fur, Brook and Bre.
On Nov. 18, 1947 James married Maryann Henderson, who preceded him in death in 2010 after 53 years of marriage. He was also preceded in death by his parents; and his brother, John Perry.
Cremation has taken place at the Benzie Area Crematory in Beulah, Private family services will be held at a later date.
