Jayne Carolyn (Rivard) McCormick, age 73, passed away peacefully on Thursday, March 15, 2017 at the Munson Hospice House after valiant fight with cancer. From her birth on Dec. 15, 1943 to her passing, she nourished people around her with love, generosity, faith and music. She was a devoted wife, mother, grandmother, aunt and faithful friend.
She was born in Traverse City to Jake "A.J." and Gladys Rivard (Wares).
During her high school days at Traverse City Central she met the love of her life, Dan McCormick, a Traverse City St. Francis student. They were married on June 8, 1963 and were blessed with four children.
Jayne was preceded in death by her parents; sister, Kay Jean Roush; along with many other dear family members and friends.
Left to honor Jayne and remember her unending love are her husband, Dan; her precious children, Misha (Mark) Blodgett, Amy McCormick, Susan McCormick and Daniel (Pam) McCormick; and five grandchildren, Katie Blodgett, Jordan (Shelby) Blodgett, Brady, Casey and McKenzie McCormick. Jayne was looking forward to meeting her first great grandchild (Baby Girl Blodgett due in August of 2017). She also leaves behind many nieces, nephews and dear friends. She held her late sister's children and grandchildren close to her heart and considered them like her own.
Jayne will be remembered as a bright, giving light with faith and love for the people she touched and served on this earth.
Funeral services will be held on Thursday, May 18, 2017, at 11 a.m., at St. Francis Church, 1025 South Union St., Traverse City, MI 49684, with Father Kenneth R. Stachnik and Father James Gardiner as concelebrants. The family will greet friends one hour before the service at 10 a.m. at St. Francis Church and at a luncheon after the service.
The McCormick family would like to extend their gratitude to friends and family for all of their heartfelt words, messages and love during the past few months. They would also like to thank the staff at Munson Hospice House in Traverse City for their attentiveness and loving care.
