June Marie Kobbins, age 92, of Traverse City, passed away Friday, July 21, 2017 at the Traverse Victorian Senior Living Facility in the loving care of her family. June was born to Thomas and Lucy (Bradford) Montague on Sept. 27, 1924 in Traverse City.
June lived in the Traverse City area her entire life. She worked as an administrative assistant at the prosecutor's office until her eventual retirement.
Throughout the years June had many hobbies and interests. June enjoyed horse racing, and her favorite rider was Jerry Bailey. She also had a love for NASCAR; she enjoyed watching car number 48, Jimmy Johnson. She had many hobbies, some of which included watching the Detroit Lions, loving a good martini, making beautiful cakes and loving to bowl and golf.
June is survived by her daughter, Christine Derks; son, Kevin (Cindy) Kobbins; son, Jerry (Carol) Stremlow; five grandchildren; and four great-grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Carl T. Kobbins; and daughter, Sherry Stremlow.
A funeral service will be held at noon on Monday, July 31, 2017 in the chapel at Central United Methodist Church, with Pastor Dale Ostema officiating. Visitation will begin at 11 a.m. at the church. There will be a procession to Grand Traverse Memorial Gardens, where graveside services will take place immediately following the service.
