Lois Ann (Nye) Rackow, formerly of Interlochen, passed away after an extended illness on Aug. 2, 2017 at the Grandvue Medical Care Facility in East Jordan.
She was born in Manton on June 20, 1937 to Marion and Recia (Carpenter) Nye. She married Charles Rackow on Sept. 15, 1956 in Beulah.
Lois had a strong faith in God and was a member of the Grawn Bible Methodist Church for many years.
Lois was a homemaker who enjoyed crocheting, knitting, sewing, gardening and helping her husband with a saw mill and pallet business.
She is survived by her children, Robert Rackow, of Benzonia, Victoria DeRuyscher, of Elberta, Joanne Rackow, of Boyne Falls, and Amber Galloway, of Michigan City; 21 grandchildren; brother, Neal (Marilyn) Nye, of Benzonia; sister, Ione McNealy, of Hawks; a very special sister-in-law, Marilyn Wareham, of Interlochen; and several nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Charles; parents; children, Patrick, Patricia and James Lee; granddaughter, Holly Marie Rackow; great-grandson, Dakota Charles Irish Jones; sister and brother-in-law, Ava and Walter Christenson; and brothers-in-law, Kenneth McNealy and Harry Mark Wareham.
Funeral services will be held at noon Monday, Aug. 7, at the Jowett Family Funeral Home in Benzonia, with Pastor Dan Ingersoll officiating. Visitation will be one hour prior to the service. Burial will be in Cleon Township Cemetery.
Contributions may be given to the family.
