Robert Henry Kronberg, 85, of Petoskey, died on Thursday, May 25, 2017.
Bob was born March 30, 1932 in Wakefield the son of Henry and Genevieve (DeMille) Kronberg. Bob grew up on a farm in Thomaston, a suburb of Wakefield, and attended school in Wakefield and Mackinaw City.
On June 28, 1952 he married Delores "Dolly" Winowiecki in Traverse City. They raised their family in Traverse City, St. Ignace, Petoskey and Grayling. He and Delores moved back to Petoskey in 2013.
Bob served in the United States Coast Guard for six years and had sea duty from Cuba to Newfoundland and various stations in America.
After the service he worked for Michigan Bell and retired from AT&T after 39 years.
Bob could make or fix just about anything and will be remembered by his family and friends for always being ready to lend a helping hand with any project, no matter how big or how small, for the beautiful wooden objects he made and for teaching his kids to put the tools back where they found them. He loved to listen to and play music, especially with his family.
Bob was a member of the American Legion, a charter member of the Fourth Degree Knights of Columbus and served as Color Guard Commander and member of St. Francis Xavier Catholic Church.
He is survived by his wife, Delores; six children, Pat Hamel and her husband, Herb, of Petoskey, Jack Kronberg and his wife, Margaret, of Grand Haven, Bob Kronberg and his wife, Kim, of Petoskey, Bernadette Kronberg and her husband, Kurt Kohtz, of Grand Rapids, David Kronberg and his wife, Mary, of Cheboygan, and Bill Kronberg, of Chelsea; nine grandchildren; and three great-grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by his parents and his brother, Jack, a Naval Airman, who died in service in 1944.
Visitation will be Monday, May 29, from 6 to 8 p.m., with a rosary recited at 7:30 p.m., at Stone Funeral Home. A funeral Mass will take place at St. Francis Xavier Catholic Church in Petoskey Tuesday, May 30, at 10:30 a.m..
Memorial donations may be made to Brother Dan's Food Pantry.
