Stanley's Story

Stanley Edward Priest, 79, of Traverse City, left this world to be with his Heavenly Father on Friday, July 28, 2017 at French Manor Assisted Living with his loving wife at his side.
Stan was born May 26, 1938 in Roscommon the son of Robert James Priest and Doris Mildred (McClain) Priest. On Aug. 19, 1995 he married his wife of 22 years, Nancy Jane Priest, who survives.
As a young man Stan served his nation in the U.S. Army, serving in Germany as a cook and paratrooper.
He loved old cars and restoring them. Stan and his childhood and lifelong friend, Jerry Grosser, worked together on Stan's beloved El Camino.
He worked at Munson Medical Center Environmental Services and also at Meijer.
He enjoyed reading Louis L'Amore western novels. In his later years, Stan enjoyed hunting and fishing in the states and hiking (volksmarching) in Germany.
Stan is survived by his wife, Nancy; his children, Anthony (Monika) Priest, Jacqueline Priest, Patrick (Sandra) Priest and Jeff Priest; stepchildren, Lori (Ben) Buchan, Ellen (Rick) Montoya and Steve (Carol) Stowe; sisters, Edith Lougheed and Kathryn Martin; and numerous loving grandchildren and great-grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by his parents; his brothers, Larry, and Mike; his sisters, Vonnie and Shirley; a brother-in-law, Jack Lougheed; and a grandson, Kyle McGee.
A memorial service will be held at 11 a.m. on Saturday, Aug. 5, with the family greeting friends at 10 a.m., at West Bay Covenant Church. The Rev. Kent Anderson will officiate.
