William Allen Suppnick, of Rochester Hills and Frankfort, formerly of Warren, died peacefully at home on April 18, 2017. Bill was born in Detroit on Nov. 22, 1935, the son of Walter A. Suppnick and Alma I. (Fehlauer) Suppnick.
After graduating from Wayne State University Bill taught junior high science for several years in the Detroit suburbs. He also taught in Hawaii for a year.
He loved to travel and served in the Peace Corps from 1963 to 1965 in Ethiopia. After serving in the Peace Corps he returned to the Detroit area, where he worked for the Detroit welfare office for two years, lived in Ann Arbor, where he obtained his master's degree in social work from the University of Michigan, then worked at the Centerline school district as a social worker until he retired in 1989.
Following his retirement, Bill enjoyed traveling and spending time at his cottage in the woods near Crystal Lake in Frankfort. Bill especially enjoyed and cherished his time spent with his many nieces and nephews.
Bill was preceded in death by his brother, Frederick Suppnick, and sister-in-law, Susan (Steele) Suppnick.
He leaves behind his nephews, Charles Suppnick and John (Cindy) Suppnick; nieces, Barbara (Mike) Malasky and Carrie (Tom) Foote; 10 great-nephews and nieces, David, Anthony, Kathryn, Michelle, Daniel, Rebecca, Christopher, Carolyn, Scott and Jennifer; and nine great-great-nephews and nieces.
A private family memorial will be held at Crystal Lake Township Cemetery.
