Alan Anthony Ellsworth Obituary
Traverse City, MI - Alan Anthony Ellsworth (77) of Traverse City, Michigan, died in his home June 22, 2024. He was born on October 14, 1946, in Hemet, California, to Evan Seymour Ellsworth and Isabel Eyring.
Alan married his sweetheart Pamela (Lutz) on February 28, 1972, in Provo, Utah, while attending Brigham Young University. In 1975, the couple moved to establish themselves in Traverse City, Michigan.
Alan's life centered around his family. He was a loving husband, dedicated father to eight children, and doting grandfather of thirty. Alan's commitment to them was evident as he prioritized his presence for their life events. Alan also cherished the ordinary moments - like sharing a meal, a trip to the store, or talking around the table. His children will miss the surprises that came from their conversations; the quiet wit, stories of breaking in horses and surviving the wilderness for a month, and sometimes square dancing tips
Alan was a devoted, lifelong member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints. Throughout his life, he exemplified Christ's teachings, serving as a humble disciple and role model to all who knew him. In 1966, Alan served a 32-month mission in Argentina for The Church. Alan was passionate about serving others and, through his actions, encouraged his children to find joy in serving as well. Alan was a man of few words but offered the precious gift of time to all. He created a legacy with his gentle, servant heart.
Professionally and personally, Alan was known for his handyman skills. This was demonstrated for nearly twenty-five years as an employee with the Federal Aviation Administration. At home, no house or car project was too challenging. His ability to fix things was matched only by his willingness to help others, always lending a hand. His children will miss gleaning his mechanical wisdom for their own projects and the bonding experiences this brought.
Alan had a passion for music, particularly playing the guitar and singing. He delighted in sharing his musical talents with family and friends, creating lasting memories.
Alan is preceded in death by his siblings: Dan, Kent, and Lary. Alan is survived by his siblings Lyn, Judy, Jill, and Mike; as well as his beloved wife, Pamela; his children: David (Lillian), Noel (Jennifer), Megan (Mark) Hammar, Seth (Chelsea), Nathan (Anna), Miles (Austin), Ashlee (Jonathan) Fowler, and Lara (Thomas) Girdwood; his thirty grandchildren; and two great-grandchildren.
