Andrea Cox

Andrea (Schall) Cox passed away peacefully in her sleep on Wednesday, Sept. 4, 2019. She was 77 years old. As the daughter of the late Richard and Lorraine Schall, Andrea was a proud native of Traverse City and lived most of her adult life in Williamsburg.
She graduated from Traverse City Central High School in 1960 and from Katharine Gibbs School, Boston, Massachusetts, in 1962.
Andrea delighted in entertaining her family and friends with great stories from her days of working in the secretarial pool for the Central Intelligence Agency in Washington, D.C. and later for the legal department at CBS in Los Angeles, California. While there, she assisted with contracts for Walter Cronkite, Red Skelton, Danny Kaye, the cast of My Three Sons and other notable celebrities of the era.
Eventually Andrea returned to Traverse City, where she met and married her husband of 52 years, Walter Cox. Together they raised two children, operated a successful business and enjoyed time with each other and their family and friends. Nothing brought her greater joy than the time she spent with her grandchildren. She also had a tremendous love of baking, which she inherited from her father and continued to enjoy, even as her health declined.
Andrea is forever loved by her husband; her children, John and Jennifer; her son-in-law, Chris Ryder; her grandchildren, Johannah, Wally and McKenzie; and her brother, Richard.
Her wit and sparkle will be missed immensely.
A private service will be held for immediate family.

Dear Wally, children and grandchildren and Richard, I was sorry to read and am praying
for Holy Spirit comfort for all of you. My happiest memories of Elmwood Elem. school
were shared with Andrea and the Schall family in your home and with classmates in
your neighborhood. I wish I had heard Andrea’s secretarial stories! I was able to give Lorraine and Richard a tour of HongKong when I lived there, and I remember dinner in
your home, Wally. I’m sorry we lost touch over
the years , and always hoped to see you and Andrea at a high school 1960 class reunion.
Love and prayers in Jesus, Sharon (Raftshol) Schumer
