Carol Jean Bowes Obituary

Traverse City, MI - Carol Jean Bowes, 87, passed away peacefully on December 21, 2025. Born January

3, 1938, in Detroit to Irene and Carl Williamson, she married her late husband, Milton

"Milt" Bowes on October 4, 1958. Their journey spanned over six decades, eventually

leading them from Detroit to their cherished retirement in Traverse City.

Carol was a woman of deep faith and remarkable creativity. An exceptional seamstress

and intuitive cook, she created a home defined by beauty and hospitality. She was a

dedicated servant of the church, including Good Hope in Garden City, Hope Lutheran in Farmington Hills and

Bethlehem Lutheran in Traverse City. In her final years, she faced Alzheimer's disease

with dignity.

She is survived by daughters, Kristen Rivard and Andrea Chowanic (Curt); and grandchildren,

Justin (Hillary), Allyson (Cris), Amalia (Zach), Asha.

A memorial service will be held at Bethlehem Lutheran Church in Traverse City, MI, on

Friday, May 15, 2026, at 11:00 am. In lieu of flowers, the family kindly requests tribute

gift donations to the Alzheimer's Foundation of America (https://alzfdn.org/donate/) to

help fight the disease Carol fought so bravely.
