Carol A. Comai, 92, passed away Thursday, February 1, 2024, surrounded by her family. Carol was born September 3, 1931, to John and Margaret (Gorski) Kramer in Detroit, Michigan. She married her one great love, Howard J Comai, on May 28, 1949, in Taylor, Michigan. Together they created a home and family of nine children, 34 grandchildren, 54 great grandchildren, and 3 great-great grandchildren.

A woman of faith and spirituality, she was loved and respected by many. Hardworking, strong willed, loving, compassionate, honest, and giving are only a few words to describe her and a life well lived.

Carol took great joy in having a welcoming home for family and friends. There was always a fresh pot of coffee and baked goodies to enjoy while sitting around her kitchen table.

Carol and Howard moved their family from Garden City to Kalkaska in 1971 where they owned and operated Howard's Collision, Carol's Hall, Carols Restaurant, Comai Adult Foster Care.

Carol is survived by her children, Linda (Ricky) McDowell, Carol Comai, Butch (Hazel) Comai, Mike (Janie) Comai, Larry (Cheryl) Comai, David (Marcia) Comai, Cathy (Steve) Zech, Laura (Jim) McLean, and Bill (Anna) Comai; grandchildren; great-grandchildren; and great-great grandchildren; siblings, Jack (Sue) Kramer, Mike (Marilyn) Kramer, Dolly Andrews, Elaine Flucks, Susan Ketterman; and many nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Howard; father and mother; siblings, Marcine Smolenski, Patricia Gregory, Bob Kramer, Jacqueline Kramer.

A Funeral Mass will be held at St. Mary of the Woods Catholic Church on Wednesday, May 15, 2024, at 11 am with family receiving friends at 10 am until the time of Mass.

Interment will immediately follow in St. Mary of the Woods Catholic Cemetery.

The family of Carol would like to thank the wonderful caregivers at the Kalkaska Long Term Care facility who have shown compassion and professionalism during Carol's final years.
