Traverse City, Michigan - Carol Marie Corpe, age 86, of Traverse City, passed away on Saturday, June 6, 2026 at her home.

Carol was born on January 27, 1940 in Flushing, MI. Her mother, Marie Valentine, passed away when she was 5, and Marie's brother, Harold (Betty) Valentine, then adopted Carol, raising her in Acme, MI. She graduated from Traverse City Central High School in 1958.

She married the love of her life, Stuart Corpe, in 1961 and had 3 children together. In her early years, she was an active volunteer for the East Bay Fire Department. She worked at Northwestern Michigan Human Resources Agency, starting in 1977, and worked there until she retired in 2007.

Carol is survived by her spouse, Stuart "Stu" Corpe; her oldest son, Jeb (Gemma) Corpe, who lives in Manchester, England; her daughter, Leslie Vreeland-Corpe of Traverse City; youngest son, Barry Corpe of Traverse City; and many grandchildren and great grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by her mother, Marie Valentine; adoptive parents, Harold and Betty Valentine; and her sister, Kaye Kniffin.
