Traverse City, MI - Carol Ann Husby, 84, of Traverse City, passed away on Tuesday, November 25, 2025, at Munson Medical Center.

Carol was born on October 2, 1941, in Battle Creek, Michigan, to the late Derby and Lucille (Miller) Dustin. She attended the University of Michigan, where she earned her bachelor's degree in nursing, a profession she practiced with dedication and compassion throughout her adult life.

On June 28, 1969, Carol married the love of her life, Cal Husby. Together they raised two sons, Chad and Brock. Carol worked as a school nurse throughout the Traverse City area. She also served as a nurse at Interlochen Arts Academy. She was especially influenced by her work with Dr. Joseph Maddy, the founder of Interlochen, and often spoke of the positive impact he had on her life.

Carol was creative, warm, and genuinely connected to others. She had a remarkable gift for conversation and a missionary's zeal. She was able to speak with any stranger and walk away with a new friend. She was always fully present, engaged, and sincere. Her soul truly reached out to others. Carol also had a deep love for nature; the Indian Paintbrush was her favorite wildflower. Her Orthodox Christian faith was central to her life and guided her with strength and purpose.

Above all, Carol was a devoted and faithful wife, mother, grandmother, sister, and friend. She will be dearly missed by all who knew and loved her.

Carol is survived by her sons, Dr. Chad (Polina Rigby) Husby and Dr. Brock (Jess Kruszka) Husby; her granddaughter, Anna; her brother, Dr. Dan (Kathy) Dustin; her nephews Andy and Adam Dustin, and their mother, Carla; and many treasured friends.

Carol was preceded in death by her parents and her husband, Cal.

Carol's service will be held at Noon with a visitation starting at 11am on Saturday, November 29, 2025, at the Archangel Gabriel Orthodox Church. Burial will take place at the Grand Traverse Memorial Gardens beside her beloved Cal. Memorial Contributions may be directed to the Archangel Gabriel Orthodox Church.
