East Jordan, Michigan - Charles Lee Clark, 90, "Chuck" of East Jordan, passed away on October 27, 2025, in the presence of loving family and friends at the Munson Medical Center in Traverse City. He was born in 1935 to Archer and Olive (Peck) Clark in his grandparents' Cherry Street home in Kalkaska. Chuck attended the Kalkaska Rural Agricultural School and became a life-long learner and mentor, sharing his diverse knowledge and skills with others. As a 56-year Kalkaska resident, he was very active in the community and knew almost everyone by name. Chuck was a rich repository of the past and known as an interesting storyteller. He was a cheerful and optimistic friend, an encourager to all. At age 19 he became the Village of Kalkaska Superintendent, serving in that position for 19 years. He was subsequently recruited for the position of Director of Building and Grounds for the Kalkaska Public Schools from which he retired with 15 years of service. Chuck also founded his business as home builder and electrician. Over the years he built 5 personal homes for his family and drew the plans for the construction of the Kalkaska Seventh-Day Adventist Church which was dedicated in 1965. Chuck was a former Chair of the Kalkaska County Board of Commissioners and was honored as the East Jordan Family Health Center's 2023 Community Health Champion where he served on the board for ten years. Chuck is a member of the Boyne City Seventh-Day Adventist Church where he served as an Elder, filling pulpits in northern Michigan, teaching Bible classes and supporting pastors. His favorite Bible verses were John 3:16 "For God so Loved the World that He gave His only begotten Son that whosoever believeth in Him should not perish but have everlasting life" and Revelation 14:12 "Here is the patience of the saints; here are they that keep the commandments of God, and the faith of Jesus". KJV Chuck recently said that the very best things that ever happened to him in his life were his acceptance of Jesus Christ as his personal Lord and Savior, his two loving and caring wives, and wonderful children to love. He acknowledged God's loving care for him over all these many decades and gives God all the credit for everything. Preceding him in death were his wife of 37 years, Roberta (Brooks) Clark, father Archer Clark, stepmother Dorothy Clark, mother Olive Stoops, stepfather Claude Stoops, brother Percy Clark, daughter Pamela Clark, granddaughter Crystal Hershberger, and stepdaughter Barbara Pluister. Chuck is survived by his wife of 34 years, Beverly J. (Dell) Clark, daughters Thelma Caldwell, Karen (Chet) Leatherman, Carla (John) Miller, Debra (Scott) Mortimer, Rona (Leo) Kreiser, Julie (Pete) Wood, stepson Lee (Debby) Chapaw, and stepdaughter Betty (Don) Adama.
