Charles L. "Bud" Grant IV passed away peacefully on May 4, 2018 at Prestige Point in Grand Blanc. Born on Aug. 9, 1932 in Manistee, he was the son of Charles L. Grant III and Ardath Grant.

He was a graduate of Manistee High School class of 1950 and married Shirley (Wendel) Grant at Holy Trinity Episcopal Church in Manistee on Sept. 5, 1953.

He graduated from Michigan State College (University) in 1954 and was a proud Spartan all of his life.

He played saxophone in the Michigan State College concert and marching bands, marched in the 1954 Rose Bowl Parade and football game and was a member of the MSU Alumni Band. He also was a member of the Flint Concert Band, Auto City Concert Band, Traverse Adult Community Band and several dance bands. He enjoyed traveling and visited all 50 states, Canada and Mexico.

He retired from State Farm Insurance in 1997 after 41 years of service as an agent and regional manager.

He is survived by his sons, Mark A. Grant (JoEllen) and Paul W. Grant (Lynne); sister, Mary Lidtke; along with many grandchildren and great-grandchildren.

A graveside service will be held at 3:30 p.m. on Thursday, May 31, 2018 at Oak Grove Cemetery in Manistee. A dinner will be held for family and friends later that day at 5 p.m. at the Manistee Golf and Country Club, also in Manistee.
