Charles Plumley

Charles "Bert" Plumley left his earthly body on June 18, 2019. Bert was born on Nov. 3, 1937 to the late Floyd and Sylvia (Hayes) Plumley. He was the oldest of nine children.
Bert was an exceptional provider, husband, father, brother, grandfather and friend. He was always available to give out good solid advice, or as he would say, "I tell it like it is."
Bert was a meat cutter by trade and owned three butcher shops.
Bert married Marguerite "Midge," a piano teacher, almost 38 years ago. Bert and Midge enjoyed many years of traveling and enjoyed taking care of their home on five acres. Bert especially enjoyed mowing his lawn.
Bert raised three daughters. He taught them to select a quality hammer, quality meat, the value of working hard, nature and to just be thankful. He took great pride in giving his girls advice on anything from removing moles from the yard to cooking temperatures of a steak on the grill. One of our fondest memories of our dad as children was when he was getting ready for a night out on the town; he would ask his three daughters, "Who's the best looking guy you know?" In unison we would all reply, "You are daddy!"
Bert is survived and missed dearly by his daughters, Laurie (Bob) Kohlhorst, Tracie (Dave McLachlan) Vieau and Jillian Plumley; as well as stepdaughters, Cheryl (Bradley) Clark and Deborah (Tom Fink) Hissong. He took extreme pride in his grandchildren, Amanda, Charlie, Mackenzie, Adam, Joanna, Travis and Tyler; great-grandchildren, Leo, Jordan, Gabriel, Brendan and Rylee; as well as siblings, Judy, Cora, Shirley (Richard), John (Dorothy), Mary (Greg), Bruce and Dewey.
He was preceded in death by his beautiful bride, Marguerite "Midge"; his parents; and one sister, Delores.
A memorial service to honor Bert's life will take place Monday, July 15, 2019 at the Reynolds Jonkhoff Funeral Home at 11 a.m., with visitation one-hour prior. Pastor Paul Busekist will officiate. Proper military rights will take place at 2:30 p.m. at the Linwood Cemetery, where he will be laid to rest.
Those wishing an expression of sympathy in Bert's honor may consider the American Heart Association or the Bethlehem Lutheran Church.
The family is being cared for and served by the Reynolds Jonkhoff Funeral Home and Cremation Services.
