Clyde Lowell Spence Obituary

Novi, Michigan - Clyde Lowell Spence, 87, recently from Novi, and long term resident of Interlochen, passed away on November 23, 2025. He was born on March 8, 1938 in Leavenworth, Kansas to Oma and Beatrice (Spry) Spence. He served in the Air Force Reserves and moved to Detroit in 1967.


Lowell was known for his love of nature, spending time with friends and family, taking photographs, walking, and boating. He particularly loved trivia, learning, and sharing knowledge with others.


He met his wife, Janet (Shaw), in Detroit and was married on February 15, 1969. He worked as a safety engineer before becoming a certified ergonomist. He enjoyed taking family vacations, staying active in professional organizations, and helping raise their two daughters. In retirement, Lowell and his wife moved to Interlochen and he began Interlochen Consultants.


Lowell is survived by his children, Tracy Bailey and Terry (James) Griffith, and grandchildren, Logan and Kennedy Bailey, Brandon and Sarah Griffith, as well as his brother, Neal (Melissa) Spence.
