Daniel "Dan" Lee Smith, 61, of Buckley, died peacefully Tuesday, Sept. 4, 2018 at home. He was born April 23, 1957 in Benzie County the son of Russell and June (Banks) Smith.

Dan's humor, kindness and gift of gab made him liked and loved by people who knew him. He will be hugely missed.

Dan is survived by his devoted wife, Laura Smith; his daughter, Jodi; his brother, Lynn; his sister, Janet; his stepsons; his stepmother, Millie; his grandchildren; and many friends and extended family members.

Dan was preceded in death by his parents; his infant brother, Norman Smith; his beloved daughter, Nichole; his second wife, Glenda; and his grandson, Owen.

Cremation has taken place, and in accordance with Dan's wishes a dinner and celebration of life will be announced at a later date.

In lieu of flowers or donations and in keeping with Dan's loving and giving spirit, be good to the people around you and put a smile on someone's face; these were things he did all the time.
