Traverse City, Michigan - Dave Eckenrode, 73, passed away on April 25, 2026 surrounded by family and friends.

David Andrew Eckenrode was born in 1952 in Stuttgart Germany to Marilyn and John "Jack" Eckenrode. He grew up in Birmingham, Michigan with his two brothers, Peter and Jim. He was a proud graduate of Seaholm High School and Michigan State University.

Dave and Connie were married 46 years. Though they started their family in Holly, it was in Traverse City that they built their lives. He'd spent his childhood visiting Torch Lake, and a life by the water was like fulfilling a dream.

Dave started his career at Merrill Lynch in Bloomfield Hills, before moving to Northwestern Savings and then Stonebridge Capital where he retired from in 2025. His lifelong passion for the markets meant he never truly stopped working.

He had a sharp mind and a great sense of humor. He loved many things, but among his favorites were cruises on the boat in the bay, grilling on his deck, and trips to Florida where he would be found most often in or near a pool.

Dave and Connie tackled many projects together. Along, with their children, they took summer time trips to the lumber yard where they planned their renovations. He was quite handy and could fix many things, including slapping bondo on the kid's crumbling cars, removing arrows shot by his son out of the siding, or cursing loudly while fixing leaky pipes in the basement. If he could get a break from the repair work you would probably find him on his boat at Power Island.

Dave was preceded in death by his parents Marilyn and Jack, his parents by marriage Lorraine and Calvin Lutz, and his sister-in-law Debbie and his sister-in-law Bonnie. He is survived by his wife Connie, his son Matt and daughter-in-law Missy, his daughter Emily and son-in-law Aaron, his treasured grandchildren, Jack, Penelope, and Lorraine, his brothers Peter and Jim, and sister-in-law Ellen. He leaves behind many treasured family and friends, and will be missed.

A Memorial Service honoring David will take place at 3 pm, with visitation starting at 2 pm, on Tuesday, June 16, 2026, at the Reynolds-Jonkhoff Funeral Home, 305 Sixth St., Traverse City, Michigan 49684.
