Doris Elaine Maginity, 86, of Thompsonville, died Monday, July 20, 2020, at The Maples in Frankfort. She was born June 21, 1934, in Traverse City, the daughter of Fred and Sadie (Rial) Braden.
Doris was a member of First Congregational Church. She was a loving wife, mother, and grandmother who doted on her family. She was a thoughtful and gentle woman who enjoyed writing poetry. She was a voracious reader who could read a whole book in one day. Most of all, Doris cared about her family.
Doris is survived by: her children, Michael (Cathy) Maginity, of Thompsonville, Van Maginity, of Brooklyn, Douglas (Susan) Maginity, of Interlochen, Byron (Patricia) Maginity, of Taylor, Tammy (Gregg) Bemiss, of Traverse City, and Neal (Brenda) Maginity, of Gaylord; grandchildren, Becky, Steven, Sarah, Van II, Martin, Bradley, Andy, Kevin, Kari, Ashley, Gavin, Crystal, Corey, and Trisha; great-grandchildren, Tristen, Alexa, Emily, Cheyenne, Tarek, Jessica, Alex, Brandon, Evy, Blake, Brian, Lucas, and Alaina; and her siblings, Fred (Erma) Braden, of Interlochen, Mary (John) Melvin, of Interlochen, and Gary (Linda) Braden, of Interlochen.
Doris was preceded in death by her loving husband of 61 years, Martin "Pete" Ervin Maginity; her parents; son, Darryl Maginity; granddaughter, Lori; and her brother, Earl Braden.
Funeral services will be conducted at noon, Saturday, July 25, 2020, at the Terwilliger Funeral Home in Kaleva. Interment will follow in the Thompsonville Cemetery. Visitation will be held from 11 a.m. until time of services at the funeral home. Social distancing and mask protocols will be followed.
