Traverse City, Michigan - Doug was born on April 30, 1942 in Lansing Michigan to Edward K. Hillock and Doris T. (Hillock) Signs. Doug passed away peacefully at home on April 28, 2026.
Doug married Janice M. Hubbard October 2, 1965 in Holt, Michigan.
Doug graduated from Lansing Eastern High School in 1960. He attended Lansing Beauty School to become a hairdresser and studied at Sasson in London, England. He worked as a hairdresser for sixty-three years. Doug owned a shop in Lansing, Styles by Douglas and a shop in Traverse City, Christopher Jon.
Doug enjoyed hunting and fishing especially his time at deer camp with friends and fishing trips with his step brother Russel Signs, and friends to Canada. He sponsored and bowled on a team for a number of years. He was a member of the Gideons and St. Michael Lutheran Church Traverse City.
Doug is survived by his wife Janice and two sons Jonathon and Christopher (Michelle), three grandchildren, Hunter, Madeline and Sean Hillock, a sister Kay Coryell, sister-in-law and brother-in-law Janet and Darryl Holliday, sister-in-law Sue Signs, cousins Becky and Tracy, as well as many nieces and nephews.
Many thanks to the Munson Dialysis Center's wonderful doctor and nurses who took great care of Doug for the last two and a half years and to Munson Hospice for the excellent care.
Celebration of Doug's life will be held on June 8 at 11 am, visitation at 10 am at St. Michael Lutheran Church, 912 S. Garfield Ave Traverse City MI.
