Edward H. Laffleur Obituary

Edward "Ed" Henry Laffleur, 82, of Benzonia, died Friday, Feb. 22, 2019 at home with his family by his side. He was born May 24, 1936 in Springdale Township the son of Henry and Cora (Pettis) Laffleur.

Ed was a self-employed general contractor who owned and operated Benzie Builders, Inc. He worked hard to provide for his family and built a reputation of being fair and honest.

In his younger years, Ed liked to hunt and fish. As the years went on and his business flourished, his focus shifted to his family. He was a devoted husband, father, grandfather, great-grandfather and great-great-grandfather, and he will be missed.

On June 23, 1956 at Honor Congregational Church in Honor, Ed married Ruth McCarthy, who survives him. He is also survived by his daughter, Cynthia (Scott) House, of Frankfort, and their children, Bryce House, Jeremiah (Stephanie) House, Sophia (the Reverend Phillip) Stoffregen, Rebecca House and Elizabeth House; his son, the Reverend Edward (Annette) Laffleur Jr., of Frankfort, and their children, Don (Stacey) Sneed Jr., Jamie Sneed, Andrew Sneed and Hananiah (the Reverend Ben) Tacoma; his daughter, Teresa Stolz Laffleur, of Benzonia, and her children, Ben (Liz) Stolz and Sarah Stolz; 10 great-grandchildren; one great-great-grandchild; his brother-in-law, Asa (Deb) McCarthy; his sister-in-law, Nancy McCarthy; and many nieces, nephews and cousins.

Ed was preceded in death by his parents; by his siblings. Herbert Margetson, Caleb Margetson, Libby Chamberlain, Maude Kracht, Robert Margetson, Catherine Peacock, Ralph Margetson, Viola Pierce, Fred Laffleur, Zack Laffleur, Mable Laffleur, Edna Laffleur and Leonard Laffleur; and his brother-in-law, Richard McCarthy.

Interment will take place in the Thompsonville Cemetery at a later date.
