Traverse City, Michigan - Eileen Dunn, 76, of Traverse City passed away peacefully at the Munson Hospice House on February 1, 2026.

Eileen was born on July 5, 1949 in Flint to the late John Odin and Lucy Delia (Montbriand) Jesme. She began her school years in 1954 at St. John Vianney Catholic School in Flint. She attended there until her high school graduation in 1967. Many lifelong friendships began during those school years at St. John Vianney.

On September 20, 1968 she married James "Jim" Kenneth Dunn Jr.

In 1977 she enrolled in the nursing program at Bay County Practical Nursing School and graduated in 1978 as a Licensed Practical Nurse. She worked for 23 years at various hospitals in Michigan with the majority of those years at Bay Medical Center in Bay City.

Upon retiring in 2002 with her husband, they moved to Traverse City and lived at a home on Spider Lake. Many memories were made at the home with the arrival of her 6 grandchildren, who affectionately called her "Grandma Leen".

Eileen was an extraordinary mom, wife, friend and volunteer. She was recognized by Munson Hospice House as the Volunteer of the Year in 2010 after continually volunteering nearly 400 hours per year. She was a devoted member of St. Francis Catholic Church.

Eileen was preceded in death by her brother John Jesme, sisters Carol Rowley and Nadine Jesme.

Eileen is survived by her husband of 57 years, Jim; their children James (Dawne Mormann) Dunn III and Eric (Lisa) Dunn; grandchildren Jessica, Sarah, James IV, Emily, Ella and Natalie.

Visitation for family and friends will take place on Friday, February 6, 2026 from 4 to 7 pm at Reynolds Jonkhoff Funeral Home. All are invited to join in praying the rosary at 7 pm.

The Mass of Christian Burial will be held on Saturday, February 7, 2026 at St. Francis Catholic Church at 11 am with visitation beginning one hour prior. Graveside services will follow at Grand Traverse Memorial Gardens at 1:30 pm.
